ABOUT US

Overview
The DevoCenter vision is for women to have fulfilling careers in community service.

Our mission is to prepare women for nonprofit entrepreneurship and empower them to do the most good. In service of our mission we help female founders of educational nonprofits improve operations, develop meaningful youth programs, and prepare for valuable opportunities. We provide capacity and professional development to manage operations, develop learning content, and facilitate relationships with partners who have an interest in supporting women, young people, education and civic engagement. We believe that together we build better nonprofits.

As a learning organization we are distinguished by our commitment to entrepreneurship, service-learning and servant leadership. We value innovation, professional excellence and compassionate service. We’re most excited about encouraging deep reflection and conversations on love, learning and leadership in our communities, and we’re helping women think differently about the ways that we live and work. We are dedicated to the positive transformation of our communities and preparing women to be local leaders.

If that’s important to you too, we hope you will join us in supporting women at work in our neighborhoods.

Professional Service-Learning (PSL)
Professional Service-Learning is an approach to education that links service-leadership and project management to deep inquiry and reflection. It's a process for nonprofit and community leaders who want to learn, participate and lead to improve conditions in their neighborhoods.

The DevoCenter Professional Service-Learning Process helps leaders make personal connections to service, execute meaningful projects that measure results, and multiply their impact by sharing what they learn with youth and community partners.

The Professional Service-Learning Process has been curated and adapted from published best practices and standards by: Maryland State Department of Education, National Youth Leadership Council, The Cloud Institute for Sustainability Education and The Project Management Institutes’ Foundational Standards.
